Quickbooks And Windows Mac Provides TheBut I cannot think of one that is actually gouging us over 800% cost increase in the process!?I was chatting with Intuit Sales about this, because I thought that maybe I was looking at things incorrectly. There a lot of companies that have moved from retail box to online subscription model and almost all of them are more expensive as a result. That is greed and robbery, in my opinion. The cost increase to go from QB Premier Plus to QB Online is $3,700 MORE per year, that's even if we updated QB Desktop every year, which we typically don't. We have a similar situation where we have multiple divisions that our accounting person prefers to keep as separate EIN to keep things clean. Quicken 2017 for mac stuck on updating accountsI respectfully ended the chat at that point.SO. Without blinking an eye or any hesitation, he exclaimed, "Absolutely! It is definitely worth the 800% price increase! You bet!". Did he 'really' think that being online provided 800% more value to the product to justify that cost increase?! If he was tasked with managing software for his company and had to tell his boss that he was going to increase his expenses by 800% to get basically the same value back to the company*, would he be comfortable and able to do that. And here is where I knew the conversation was done. I informed him, yes, I'm aware of what being an online service means, but. He pointed out that QBO is accessible for anywhere, because it's online. I don't even mind paying more for it. QuickBooks Online SHOULD HAVE been a no-brainer solution. Either Intuit has a QuickBooks for Mac version that has feature parity enough to meet our needs OR we need to find a QuickBooks alternative. And the inability to access the QB data in other programs – say, exporting to Excel to make some pivot tables – is just a real problem. I've been trying to get certain things fixed for about a decade, and nothing ever really changes. The Mac version is just not the truly professional product that the Windows version is. If you're interfacing regularly with an accountant on the outside, you need to be on the Windows version. I'm not going to go though a list here, but just the point I'm trying to underscore is that if you need to have a really professional and full-function bookkeeping system, you need to be on the Windows version. Another: you can't tag multiple sales agents on a sale. So if, say, you're paying multiple invoices with one check, and those invoices are listed in the detail lines, you can't get that to show up in a report. You can't export the detail at the line-level. That is my two-cents' worth. But the shortcomings are real, and if there's not a real ironclad reason to do it on the Mac, I just think it would be a mistake to switch.
